Own Your Health. Move Your Body. Strengthen Your Community.
Fitness & Movement is the first domain of FENDS and focuses on helping people take greater ownership of their health through movement, education, social connection, and practical lifestyle change.
Our approach goes beyond traditional gym-based fitness. We bring people together through walking, running, stretching, aerobic dance, group movement, fitness education, and community activities designed for adults of different ages and fitness levels.
Through our rotating Fitness & Movement Community Series at libraries and other locations throughout the Chatt Heals region, we explore important topics such as obesity, physical inactivity, mobility, healthy aging, and the role of movement in preventing and managing chronic disease. Rather than beginning with medication as the answer, we begin with a different question:
What can we do—with our bodies, our behaviors, and one another—to improve our health?
Our work extends beyond the classroom. Chatt Heals is developing community walking and running activities, aerobic dance sessions, stretching and mobility programs, social fitness experiences, and original interviews and entertainment that make conversations about fitness more accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.
This isn't about becoming an athlete. It's about becoming an active participant in your own health.
Empowerment: Jobs & Volunteer Opportunities
Demonstration
Learn. Participate. Contribute. Grow.
Empowerment is about helping people recognize that they can influence not only their own health, but also the strength and well-being of the communities in which they live.
Chatt Heals creates opportunities for residents to learn, develop skills, share knowledge, participate in community projects, connect with organizations and professionals, and contribute their own experiences and ideas to the work happening throughout our region.
Our empowerment activities include community education, workshops, health and wellness discussions, leadership opportunities, workforce and skills development, volunteerism, mentorship, community projects, and connections to employment and entrepreneurial opportunities as the Chatt Heals network grows.
But empowerment also means having a voice.
We want residents to help identify community needs, tell us what is working and what is not, contribute ideas, participate in research and community conversations, and help shape the programs developed for their communities.
The goal is not simply to bring services to a community. It is to build something with the community—developing local knowledge, local capacity, local leadership, and opportunities that can remain long after an individual program ends.
Healthy communities are not created for people. They are created with them.

Know Your Food. Nourish Your Body. Enjoy the Experience.
Nutrition is about helping people better understand the relationship between what we eat, how we live, and how we feel—while recognizing that food is also an important part of family, culture, community, and enjoyment.
Chatt Heals approaches nutrition through education, experience, access, and practical application. Rather than promoting restrictive diets or short-term trends, we help people develop the knowledge and skills needed to make informed food choices that can become part of everyday life.
Our Nutrition programming includes community discussions, cooking demonstrations, food education, healthy recipe exploration, gardening and growing experiences, grocery and food-selection guidance, and conversations about the relationship between nutrition, weight, chronic disease, fitness, and overall well-being.
We also recognize that healthier eating must be realistic. Cost, access, culture, family traditions, time, and personal preferences all influence what people eat. Our goal is to work within those realities—not ignore them.
As Chatt Heals grows, our nutrition activities will connect residents with opportunities to grow, prepare, share, learn about, and enjoy food together, making nutrition another way to strengthen social connection and community health.
Healthy eating isn't about perfection. It's about understanding your choices and making nourishment an active part of owning your health.
Direct Care Partnership / Support Services
Demonstration
Direct Services provided by:
Personal Support. Better Navigation. Greater Health Ownership.
Chatt Heals connects community members with direct health support through New Pulse Health, our health partnership program designed to help people better understand, navigate, and manage their health.
Healthcare can be complicated. People are often expected to manage appointments, medications, chronic conditions, specialist recommendations, insurance requirements, and lifestyle changes with very little ongoing support. New Pulse Health helps bridge that gap.
Through our Direct Care Services, participating community members may receive access to nurse practitioner-led health navigation, Health Champion support, chronic care management, remote patient monitoring, health education, appointment coordination, and connections to appropriate healthcare and community resources.
The goal is not to replace your physician or existing healthcare team. It is to provide an additional layer of support between visits—helping you understand what is happening, prepare for what comes next, ask better questions, follow through on your care plan, and take a more active role in your health.
Direct Care Services also connect with the broader Chatt Heals experience. What we learn together through fitness and movement, nutrition, education, social activities, wellness programming, and community conversations can become part of the practical support individuals use to improve their everyday lives.
You should not have to navigate your health alone. New Pulse Health is designed to help you become a more informed, supported, and active partner in your own health.
